What I Do
Hi! My name is Brad Locke,
I’m now a photographer.
I am Brad Locke a medically released former Sergeant in the Canadian Forces. I was released for PTSD, a TBI and multiple physical injuries. I am using wildlife and landscape photography as one of the tools in my toolbox to recover from the wounds of my service-related PTSD. It helps me work on and develop my patience, focus, attention to detail and it provides me with plenty of time to be in my head and to get comfortable with my thoughts.
As I live in rural North Western Saskatchewan, I have abundant access to wildlife in the natural habitat. A lifelong outdoors person, I am quite comfortable being in close proximity to wildlife, while not disturbing them or making them feel threatened. This enables me to capture photographs of animals acting naturally as they would in the wild. I am in the process of building a landscape and wildlife photography company with a social enterprise business model that will see all net profits be donated to reputable veteran and first responder charities and not for profits.
Online consumers are looking for a new type of more ethical consumerism, this model allows the consumer to do more with their purchase, and get a positive social experience out the deal. A Social enterprise will get a consumer to spend money on a product they were going to purchase anyway and do good at the same time. I want to use my story of dealing with PTSD from the beginning, when my trauma occurred overseas to where I am now. I hope to inspire other veterans and first responders to seek help and to know they are not alone in dealing with trauma. All images are high resolution and prints can be purchased here on our website.

I am very proud to now hold this accreditation.
My Passion.
What I Like to Capture.
Nature Photography
There is something so relaxing about being surrounded by nature, you can feel the stress leaving the body, the benefits of nature have been long touted by Indigenous and Eastern Cultures, it is even being recognized by Western medical professionals.
Landscape Photography
While going on walks with my service dog Odin, I started to realize that although I was constantly looking at my surroundings, I was hypervigilant for any possible danger, I wasn’t seeing the beauty. I had to work on retraining my brain to see the beauty that surrounds us everyday.
Wildlife Photography
Being a lifelong avid outdoors person, I am quite comfortable being in the bush with animals large and small, with the ability to not disturb or stress them. It enables me to get images of wildlife acting naturally as they do in the wild.
Travel Photography
The opportunity to travel is one of the reasons I joined the military, the desire to travel stayed with me my entire career, and is still something I love. My travel photos were taken on three different continents… so far.
